We try to cover a broad ranges of musical genres – pop, rock, gospel, musicals, classics, Irish, country and of course Christmas songs!
CÓRus is primarily class based, however on occasion we may be invited to take part in events. This is an exciting opportunity to bring classes together for a fabulous massed singing performance. The annual end of year concert in the Helix Theatre DCU is a huge date in the CÓRus Calendar. This is a great opportunity for class members to showcase their class achievements.
In addition to our end of year concert, we may be asked on occasion to perform at events throughout the year e.g. Christmas carol singing for charity.
Class members are invited but not obliged to perform at these events outside of class time. Participants wishing to take part in massed events must sign up and commit to additional rehearsals to prepare for performances, if requested.
During certain pieces of music, CÓRus will introduce simple moves designed to be easy to learn and execute and add to the overall fun of any performance experience. CÓRus advises class members to pace themselves according to their own ability during any class or performance.
CÓRus classes are a fun but mentally challenging class based activity and our rehearsals and performances do involve music, movement and can involve long periods of standing. In making an application to join a CÓRus class, individuals declare themselves to be physically and mentally fit to attend classes but are advised to work to their own abilities during classes, rehearsals and performances.
